THE AFUW-NSW Inc TEMPE MANN TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIP

AUSTRALIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN - NSW Inc.

The trustees of AFUW-NSW Inc. Education Trust invite applications for the AFUW-NSW Inc Tempe Mann Annual Scholarship to be awarded in 2009 which will be $7,500.00. A second scholarship may be awarded.

Eligibility:

The Scholarship is available to women who hold a research masters or degree from, or are enrolled as a research masters or doctorate degree student at, The University of Sydney - to support the undertaking of a short period of advanced research or course work study in any field at an overseas university or equivalent institution.

Guidelines for Applicants:

Applications must be made electronically on the form supplied no later than 30 April 2009.

If you experience difficulty in supplying a photograph or any other required information electronically, complete the form electronically as completely as possible and advise the Fellowship Convener that these will be sent separately as hard copy. Such material must reach the Fellowships Convener by the closing date.

You will receive an electronic notification of the receipt of your application.

Your application should provide the following information:

Personal data as on the application form, with recent photograph.

Professional data including:

• Qualifications obtained, where and when
• Prizes or awards granted, where, when and amounts
• Publications (if numerous, list the six most important)
• Employment (if applicable)
• Name and address of most recent employer first.
• Other life activities, community involvement

Research/study proposal

• Place of research or study. Attach proof of enrolment or of provisional acceptance from the University or other institution at which you propose to work/ are working.
• Specific aims of project for which you would use the funds
• Approximate budget required for the specific project / study
• A statement of other sources of financial support which will supplement the Tempe Mann Scholarship
• Other grants for which you are an applicant or recipient

Any further information on yourself that you consider relevant to the support of your application.

Referees

Give the names and email addresses of your supervisor and an independent referee who is familiar with your academic record and who are able to comment on your proposed project.

DO NOT INCLUDE THESE REPORTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION – REFERENCES WILL BE CALLED FOR BY AFUW-NSW.

Conditions of the Award

It is a condition of the award:

1. that the successful candidate agree to acknowledge AFUW-NSW support in any publication (including any thesis) that results from the work undertaken
2. that she provide a report on the conclusion of the project
